Borno orders workers to resume in liberated communities
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State yesterday directed civil servants to immediately resume work at the 10 local councils reclaimed from the Boko Haram Islamic sect.
The Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Usman Zannah, who gave the governor’s marching order at a news conference in Maiduguri, said the directive followed the return of “relative peace” to the affected liberated communities.

“Local government areas like Mafa, Magumeri, Dikwa, Konduga, Benisheikh, Askira Uba, Kala/Balge and Kaga, Gwoza among others were all freed of Boko Haram insurgents and they are habitable and normal life has resumed for the last two or three months now.
“The whole of these local government areas were also rebuilt by the state Ministry of Rehabilitatin, Reconstruction and Resettlement(RRR) with the support of NGOs like Victims Support Fund, Dangote Foundation, among others.

“It is in line with this development that Governor Shettima directed that salaries of workers must be paid in all liberated council areas.”He noted: “We don’t see any reason why workers should remain in Maiduguri metropolis when many people have returned to their liberated communities.”
