RIYAD MAHREZ DROPS BIGGEST HINT YET HE’S READY TO JOIN ARSENAL
LEICESTER City star Riyad Mahrez would only leave the Premier League champions for a select band of “two or three clubs”.
The Algerian winger was one of the stars of the Foxes’ incredible 5000-1 title charge last season.
The former La Havre man also collected best player awards from the PFA and the FWA.
Arsenal and Barcelona have both been credited with having an interest, although the Gunners are only known to have had an offer rejected by his team-mate Jamie Vardy.
And the 25-year-old has revealed only a couple of clubs could tempt him away from the King Power stadium.
He told France Football: “The Premier League is a super league and I would like to stay here as long as possible.
“Now, there are two or three clubs in the world, that if they come for me, it definitely makes you think, if you understand what I am trying to say.
Speaking about the speculation on his future, he added: “I don’t think about it too much. I’m not part of that world. I play football and then I go home.
“It’s true that, in England, they’re crazy about it. Last Sunday, after a game, we were in the same hotel as Chelsea and that was a story. They find the smallest detail to be a part of your life.
“I know how to deal with it. After all, I’m not David Beckham.”
Mahrez was rejected by a host of clubs in his early years for being too small and weak.
But he is full of praise for Italian boss Claudio Ranieri who turned him into to an all-action whirlwind who took the Premier League by storm.
He said: “He immediately took me under his wing and gave me a lot of confidence.
“And he has brought me to be more rigorous with my game. The result of that: last year, I defended like a crazy person.
“He made me understand that if one of us did not defend, we were dead.
“With him, I also timed better the moments where one needs to press, when one needs to peel off, things like that.”
