Wilmots rejects Algeria over pay

Former Belgium coach, Marc Wilmots, has rejected a chance to lead Algeria through the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers following a disagreement on salary and other emoluments. The North Africans have now shifted their attention to Frenchman, Rolland Courbis.
Algeria are in desperate search for a manager ahead of next month’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo.
The North Africans opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Cameroun in Blida, prompting the players to revolt against Serb, Milovan Rajevac, who consequently left his post.

According to the Algeria News Agency, negotiations between Wilmots and FAF president, Mohamed Raouraoua, in Brussels broke down over finances with speculations being that the Belgian coach’s asking price was beyond the budget of Algeria.
As a result of this, Frenchman Rolland Courbis has now emerged as the favourite for the job.
However, Wilmots insists money was not the reason he turned down Algeria.
A Belgian journalist, Thierry Luthers, said he spoke with Wilmots, who denied money was the stumbling block.
The journalist further said the coach told him he could return to national team management “in two, three years” possibly because of how his career as Belgium coach ended in a huge disappointment.
Meanwhile, West Ham United’s Sofiane Feghouli has lifted the lid on why players of the Desert Foxes made the FA fire manager Milovan Rajevac.
Feghouli alongside other senior players in the team approached the country’s soccer ruling body after their disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Cameroun in their first World Cup 2018 qualifiers game.
